Discover the legend and history of Dracula

Bucharest – Targoviste – Curtea de Arges – Poienari – Bran

Day 1: We’ll start our lovely trip from your hotel from Bucharest. I’ll be there at 8:00 a.m.

The first on the list is the Royal Court in Targovişte, which was the capital of Wallachia at the beginning of the 14th century. Over there we’ll climb to the top of the Chindia Tower. That’s the symbol of the city. The tower was begun during Vlad the Impaler reign but took its final form during the 19th century. Initially, it had a military purpose, but during its history was used as a guard point, a fire tower, and also for storing the state treasury.

The gorgeous journey continues with a stop, because it’s on our way, at Curtea de Arges Monastery. We’ll see and visit a beautiful church and the tombs of our kings and queens: Carol I and Elisabeth, Ferdinand I and Maria, Carol II and Helen, Mihai I and Ana. It’s a place where we’ll discover an orthodox cathedral built in a Byzantine architectural style with Moorish arabesques. And the legend of Manole as well, the chief architect of the monastery.

The tour is about Vlad the Impaler. So we’ll climb 1480 steps to reach Poenari Fortress, the real fortress of Vlad III. From there we’ll admire the Arges Valley.

At the end of the day, we’ll accommodate in Bran (not included – so you can decide the type of accommodation).

Bran – Snagov – Bucharest

Day 2: In the morning we’ll visit the most famous castle in Romania, Bran Castle. It’s related to Dracula (according to Bram Stoker), but also Queen Maria, our second queen because the castle was used as a royal residence by herself.

On the way to Bucharest, we’ll stop at Snagov Monastery to see the tomb of Vlad the Impaler. Located on an island of the Snagov Lake the monastic establishments are a historical monument and an important touristic attraction.

The end of our tour will be in Bucharest, in The Old Town where is the Old Princely Court. That’s because Vlad the Impaler moved the capital of Wallachia from Targoviste to Bucharest in the 15th century.
